Fare Change Proposal Approved
The Community Transit Board has approved a fare change that will go into effect Oct. 1, 2008. Fares were raised for bus, DART and vanpool services, except that senior/disabled bus fares were not changed.
Current fares will remain in effect through Sept. 30, 2008. Please refer to the chart for information on the new fares.

Why is Community Transit raising fares?
The cost of providing local vanpools, bus, and paratransit services has increased. One of the major factors is the steep rise in the price of fuel. While Community Transit ridership has increased, fares generate less than one-fifth the cost of providing public transportation services.
When did Community Transit last raise fares?
It has been at least three years since any of our fares have been changed. Local and DART paratransit fares were adjusted in 2005; vanpool fares were last increased in 2001 and commuter fares were last increased in 2000.
Will transfers continue to be issued?
Yes, transfers will continue to be issued by Community Transit and will continue to be honored by our partner agencies, King County Metro and Sound Transit. Everett Transit does not accept nor issue transfers.
Will there be any changes to the Edmond Community College Pass, UPass or FlexPass?
Customers will not notice any changes to the Edmond Community College Pass, FlexPass, or UPass and may continue to use these passes in the usual manner.
Will vanpool fares change?
Yes, Vanpool fares will be adjusted to reflect the higher operating costs. Our new fare schedule is based upon January 2008 IRS Vehicle Operating costs of a minimum 51 cents per mile. Some trip costs may vary, but all riders will see an increase. Longer trips will see a greater increase reflecting increased gas prices.
Can I return, refund or exchange my PugetPass or ticket books?
Riders who have purchased annual passes or ticket books at the current fare can continue to use these media until they are all used or expired. You will have to make up the difference between the current and new fares in cash. For instance, adults with a $1.25 ticket or pass can pay their fare with that ticket plus 25 cents cash.
Annual Puget Passes can be exchanged, along with cash, check or credit card for the price difference, for an upgraded pass. Or Annual passes can be refunded for the unused portion (minus a $10 handling fee).
Monthly passes may be refunded only before the first day of the month they are valid with a receipt.
Unused ticket books can be exchanged for an upgraded value or refunded with a receipt.
