Community Transit is proposing to adjust its fare structure for bus, paratransit and vanpool service. The agency will take public comment on the proposal through July 31. Local bus fares would increase 25 cents per trip, commuter fares 50 cents and longer commuter fares (from north and east Snohomish County) 75 cents. In the commuter category, senior fares will be kept to 50 percent of a regular adult fare.
The Board will consider a decision on the proposal at its Aug. 7 meeting. If approved, the fare change would go into effect Oct. 1, 2008.
Comments may be sent to fares@commtrans.org or made in person at the following meetings:
The Monroe School District parking lot will no longer be available for commuter parking after July 25. To replace those park & pool spaces, Community Transit has leased 30 spots for weekday parking at the Monroe Foursquare Church, 17310 W. Main Street. The new park & pool is a few blocks west of the current lot. New bus stops nearby will be served by Routes 271, 275 and 424.
The church lot at 21910 44th Avenue has again been leased by Community Transit for commuter use. The Seattle Meditation Center purchased the building from the 44th Avenue Baptist Church earlier this year. The meditation center has agreed to continue providing 22 spaces for park & pool use.
Community Transit has leased 30 weekday parking spaces at Mill Creek Community Church, 16415 North Road, near Mill Creek. New park & pool signs will be installed soon.
Community Transit offers special bus service to the Evergreen Fair in Monroe Aug. 21 through Sept. 1. All regularly scheduled Route 270, 271 and 275 buses will serve the special stop near the fair entrance. To do so, buses will not serve the Monroe Park & Ride directly, but will serve a temporary stop nearby. Extra trips on Route 271 will provide service from the fair on weekends and weeknights after 11 p.m.
The Community Transit Board of Directors is considering annexing the Cathcart-Clearview-Maltby area into its service district. If the board approves this proposal at its Aug. 7 meeting, a measure will appear on the Nov. 4 general election ballot in those communities.
