Community Transit Adjusts Schedules for Holidays

Snohomish County, Wash. -- Community Transit will have numerous schedule changes during the holiday season to account for reduced demand for service. Commuter, University District and local service all will have changes.

In addition, Customer Information Services phone lines will be closed Saturday, Dec. 25, Christmas Day, and Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, New Year's Day. The Community Transit RideStore and Customer Information Services will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24 and from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31. The RideStore will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, 2005. Information about bus routes is available in Bus Plus Books and at www.communitytransit.org.

Here's a rundown of the holiday schedules:

Boeing Service

All routes to Boeing's Everett facility are cancelled between Dec. 24 and Jan. 3, 2005 in conjunction with the company's holiday schedule.

Thursday, Dec. 23

Local, commuter and University District service will operate on regular schedules.

Allowing an earlier departure from Seattle, Route 422, from downtown Seattle to Stanwood via Marysville, will have an additional trip, scheduled to depart 4th Avenue S. and S. Jackson Street at 12:05 p.m. This trip will stop in Marysville, providing regular Route 421 passengers an earlier bus home.

South county commuters seeking an earlier departure from Seattle can use Route 414. Each weekday this route has midday service from downtown Seattle to the Mountlake Terrace, Ash Way, Mariner and McCollum Park Park & Rides. Trips depart at 9:06, 10:06 and 11:06 a.m., and at 12:06, 1:06, 2:06 and 2:36 p.m. Route 414 also has several evening trips for those commuters who stay late in Seattle.

Friday, Dec. 24, Christmas Eve

Local service: All local bus routes will operate on Saturday schedules.

Commuter service: All downtown Seattle commuter routes except Route 414 are cancelled Dec. 31.

Route 414, serving the McCollum Park, Mariner, Ash Way and Mountlake Terrace Park & Ride lots, will be the only service to and from downtown Seattle, and will operate on an expanded schedule.

Additional Route 414 southbound trips will leave the McCollum Park Park & Ride at 5:21, 5:51, 6:21, 6:51, 7:21 and 7:51 a.m. Additional northbound trips will leave 4th and Royal Brougham at 12:36, 3:06, 3:36, 4:06, 4:36, 5:06, 5:36 and 6:06 p.m. Information about departure times from McCollum Park, Mariner, Ash Way and Mountlake Terrace Park & Rides will be posted at those locations.

University District service: Route 855 will be the only route serving the University District and will operate on its regular schedule.

Saturday, Dec. 25, Christmas Day

Local service will operate on its regular Saturday schedule. Community Transit does not operate commuter service on weekends.

Thursday, Dec. 30

 Local, commuter and University District service will operate on regular schedules.
