We've come a long way in four decades! From our early years as a small local bus service, we have grown into a transportation leader for the Puget Sound region, with nearly 10 million passenger boardings per year. And our service area continues to expand.
Over the coming months leading up to our 40th anniversary of service, the agency will highlight our commitment to the residents of Snohomish County on our website, through social media and at community events. Under the theme Bringing You Home, Community Transit is highlighting the employees and departments that keep our service running, from bus drivers and mechanics, to planners, IT and HR staff. These dramatic photos will be featured in social media, advertising, and on a traveling displaying honoring the faces behind the service we provide.
As we do every year, Community Transit staff will travel to more than three dozen fairs and festivals in Snohomish County this spring and summer. Some of those events will feature the agency's popular "antique bus" - a 1959 GMC that was one of our original vehicles - decorated with 40th Anniversary markings. Cutouts of employees from throughout the agency are seated in the bus, creating a walk-through diorama.
We also used this special anniversary to create a new 40th Anniversary mark for the Bringing You Home campaign. You may recognize the original CT logo from our antique bus - it was our first "Community Transit" logo. The new 40th Anniversary mark pays tribute to this original logo and will be featured in print and social media this year.
