Use Your ORCA EdPass

Edmonds Community College and Central Washington University, Lynnwood Campus, have converted the EdPass to an ORCA-powered transportation card. 

Getting an ORCA EdPass card means you are always ready to hop on the bus, even If you just spent your last dime on books, tunes or car repair. The student/staff/faculty pass is good for unlimited rides on Community Transit service each quarter.

Service to Edmonds Community College

Edmonds Community College is directly served by Routes 115 and 116. In addition, Swift bus rapid transit operates on Highway 99 with a stop at 200th, just blocks from campus. Together, there are nine buses every hour in each direction that can get you to campus.

Route 115 (map):

• Route operates between Mariner Park & Ride in south Everett and Aurora Village Transit Center in Shoreline every 30 minutes.
• Route stops at McCollum Park, Bothell-Everett Hwy, Ash Way, Alderwood, Lynnwood Transit Center, Edmonds Park & Ride and Edmonds-Woodway High School, as well as stops in between.
• Route connects to: Swift, Routes 101, 105, 106, 110, 112, 113, 116, 119, 120, 130, 196, 201, 202, 402, 410, 412, 413, 415, 416, 417, 421, 422, 425, 810, 821, 855, 860, 880, 885 511, 532, 535, Everett Transit, King County Metro.

Route 116 (map):

• Route operates between Silver Firs in southeast Everett and the Edmonds waterfront every 30 minutes.
• Route stops at Mill Creek Road, Ash Way, Alderwood, Lynnwood Transit Center, Edmonds Park & Ride, Edmonds-Woodway High School, Main Street, Edmonds Library and the Edmonds Station Ferry Terminal.
• Route connects to: Swift, Routes 101, 105, 106, 110, 112, 113, 115, 119, 120, 130, 196, 201, 202, 402, 412, 413, 415, 416, 417, 421, 422, 425, 810, 821, 855, 860, 880, 885, 511, 532, 535, Sounder, Washington State Ferries.

Get Your EdPass

Good for three months of transportation on Community Transit buses, the ORCA EdPass is valued at $189 a quarter – but Edmonds Community College students, staff and faculty pay a fraction of that.

Students pay $25 for their first ORCA EdPass card, and $15 per quarter after that. Register for “ORCC” the bus pass “class,” along with your other classes. Pay online or at the Cashier’s Office in Lynnwood Hall.

Staff and faculty continue to pay $45. Purchase your quarterly bus pass at the Cashier’s Office. And don’t worry about getting stuck at work if you have an emergency or unexpected late night. Community Transit offers college employees participating in the campus Commute Trip Reduction program a free “guaranteed ride home” taxi ride in those situations.

As with the old EdPass, you need to pay to renew your ORCA EdPass card at the beginning of every quarter to keep it valid.

How It Works

Edmonds Community College has added an ORCA symbol to their standard EdPass ID cards – quarterly stickers will no longer be needed. For CWU, students will get standard-looking ORCA card. In either case, your pass is no longer “show and go” like the old EdPass.

• Always tap your card on the ORCA reader when boarding the bus or at the Swift station.

Your EdPass/ORCA card uses contact-free technology similar to building access cards. No swiping necessary. Value must be loaded on the card for it to be valid – you must renew your EdPass/ORCA card every quarter online or at the Cashier’s Office.  

Transportation Options

Community Transit and Edmonds Community College have been partners in providing transportation options for 15 years.

Swift bus rapid transit

Ten percent of passengers on Swift bus rapid transit use an EdPass. Don’t forget to tap your card on the ORCA reader at the station before boarding, and be prepared to show your card to a Swift Ambassador on request. Northbound and southbound Swift stations are just a few blocks from campus on Highway 99. Buses run every 10 minutes on weekdays.

Bike/Walk

Walk or bike to your neighborhood bus stop or park & ride and create no personal greenhouse gas emissions or pollution. Every bus has a bike rack, and Edmonds Community College has bike racks or safe, weatherproof bike lockers you can use on campus. Visit the EdPass office in Brier Hall for more information.

The regional Interurban Trail, a bike-pedestrian route between north Seattle and Everett, passes within two miles of Edmonds Community College. From the Lynnwood Transit Center it is a quick bike ride or easy bus connection to campus.

Carpool

Find a friend and carpool to campus – there’s designated carpool parking for those permitted through the Security Office in Meadowdale Hall.

For help finding a carpool, register with RideShareOnline.com, the regional ridematching database. It also lists carpools to concerts, sporting events and skiing!

Transportation Coordinator

The college offers the services of a transportation coordinator to students and employees to answer general questions about bus routes, rideshare matching services, carpool information or other transportation services that might help people commute to campus.
