Pride Month: Commitment to Inclusion

Pride Month: Commitment to Inclusion

June marks the celebration of Pride Month, which presents an opportunity to practice Community Transit’s value of inclusion. The modern gay rights movement has its origin in the 1969 Stonewall Demonstrations in New York that galvanized the fight for a more inclusive society. Since then, Pride Month has transitioned to a global recognition. During June, you may see employees joining the celebration by wearing special Pride buttons.

Like many organizations across the country, Community Transit holds equity and inclusion as a core value in how we operate, how we treat each other and how we welcome all members of the community. Community Transit is committed to aligning the agency’s policies, practices, and resources to embrace all employees and community members for who they are, as they are.

Diversity strengthens the community. It also strengthens Community Transit, how we work together, and how we serve others every day based on the simple but powerful idea that all people are welcome here, and all belong.

Community Transit is committed to increasing agency awareness and knowledge about diversity, equity, and inclusion topics and expanding DE&I initiatives to serve employees, riders, and community members.

To the LGBTQIA+ Community. I see you. I hear you. I stand with you.
