Geri Beardsley Hired as New Administration Director

Dec 15, 2015

Snohomish County, Wash. — Community Transit has announced the hiring of Geri Beardsley as the agency's new Director of Administration, starting Jan. 1, 2016.Geri-Beardsley-2015

Beardsley served the past six years as Executive Director of the Washington State Transit Association (WSTA). In that job, she successfully advocated for a $16 billion transportation revenue package that was approved last summer, the first new state investment in Washington’s transportation system in a decade. Beardsley has also been an active participant in the American Public Transportation Association’s State Affairs Committee.

She has extensive career experience working with the Washington State Legislature and Governor’s office as an advocate for transit industry issues and as an analyst with the Washington State Office of Financial Management. She previously served as a budget and policy specialist to the Seattle City Council.

In her new role at Community Transit, Beardsley will oversee six divisions: Administration, Finance and Accounting, Procurement and Contracts, Human Resources, Risk Management, and Training and Staff Development. Beardsley fills a position that was left vacant when previous Director of Administration Emmett Heath was named the agency’s CEO in early 2015.

Community Transit is a leader in providing transportation options for the Puget Sound region. From a thriving vanpool program to Swift bus rapid transit to Double Tall buses, Community Transit has been at the forefront of helping Snohomish County residents think transit first.
