Community Transit is the easiest way to get to the Evergreen State Fair, with a special bus stop next to the West Gate entrance during fair hours.
The fair runs August 25 through September 5 at the Evergreen St
ate Fairgrounds in Monroe. The fairgrounds are served by Community Transit Routes 270 and 271 Monday through Friday, and Route 271 on Saturday, Sunday and Labor Day.
Community Transit is also sponsoring the Wenatchee Youth Circus on Aug. 25. Come see regular circus acts without the use of wild animals. The show is free with fair admission. Clean Air Defender Oxy Gene will participate in the show.
Taking the bus is easy
Taking the bus to the fair is easy. Adult fares are $2.25, youth fares (6-18) are $1.50 and senior/disabled/Medicare residents can ride for $1 with a reduced fare pass. Pick up an ORCA card at a nearby Safeway store and get a two-hour transfer with your ride. For ORCA details go here.
Routes 270 and 271 operate between Everett and Gold Bar along Highway 2. For route maps and schedules, visit www.communitytransit.org/schedules.
Free parking is available at Everett Station, 3201 Smith Ave., and at the Gold Bar, Snohomish and Sultan park & ride lots. Riders will need to walk out to Avenue D to catch the bus outside the Snohomish Park & Ride. Early morning bus trips serve the Monroe Park & Ride, but all other trips will stop at the West Gate entrance to the fairgrounds rather than the park & ride.
On weekdays, Routes 270 and 271 will serve the fairgrounds from Gold Bar and Everett. Buses will run every 30 minutes during the morning and evening peak, with hourly service in the middle of the day and at night.
On weekday afternoons, commuter Routes 277 and 424 will also stop at the West Gate.
Weekend/Labor Day Service
Only Route 271 operates on Saturdays, Sundays and Labor Day (Sunday schedule). On Saturdays, the bus runs every hour; on Sundays and Labor Day, the bus runs every two hours.
The last trips leaving the fairgrounds will be:

Monroe Fair Days Parade
At 11 a.m. Saturday, August 27, Oxy Gene and the Community Transit Antique Bus, a 1955 GMC bus used in our early days, will participate in the Monroe Fair Days Parade on Main Street in downtown Monroe.
