A common New Year’s resolution is to get in better shape. There are fun and adventurous ways to do that in Snohomish County. For a twist on moving more creatively, how about incorporating transit? Most people have tried or heard of circuit training – going from one exercise station to another – but when was the last time it involved a bus?

There’s so much physical activity to do that’s accessible by Community Transit. Hike, bike, run, walk, and explore the nearly 75 miles of coastline in Snohomish County. Here are a sample of ideas; feel free to add more in the comments.

Just off the Mukilteo Speedway, the forested Big Gulch is an easy trail that’s great for hiking or running – close by but it feels like a world away. When you plan your trip on transit, you won’t need to worry about on-site parking. We serve more than 29 park & rides and transit centers across the region.

The Edmonds Waterfront Center offers a variety of enriching programs and activities like dancing, Tai Chi, and meditation year around, and the annual membership is only $25. Plan your trip on transit and you’ll hit your step count in no time

Training for a triathlon? The 52,000-square foot state-of-the-art Snohomish Aquatic Center is owned by the Snohomish School District and is open to the public without a membership. They offer classes throughout the year, including paddleboard yoga, and they have a FlowRider.

There are local skateparks, bike trails, and farms to explore in our county all winter. Many local fitness studios offer outdoor yoga and other exercise classes at local parks and beaches in warmer months.

Get moving! No matter how you get active in 2024, make Community Transit part of your plan. It can be as simple as walking to the bus stop beyond the one you usually wait at. If you enjoy biking but want to mix things up and keep your trip unexpected, ride your bike part of the way. Bikes are welcome on our buses and it is simple to load your bike on the provided bike racks. If you need a bike locker, we’ve added more in 2023.
