Vacation time is finally here! You’ve booked your hotel, requested time off, and you’re counting the days to some much-needed rest and relaxation. But first—how are you getting to the airport?

Have you thought about flying out of Seattle Paine Field International Airport in Everett?  With Community Transit, you can leave your car at home and take the bus. It’s an easy and affordable way to get to the airport—no gas, no parking fees, and more money for that poolside drink.

Flying out of Seattle Paine Field International Airport

This airport is a convenient choice for travelers living in Snohomish County.  Alaska Airlines and now Frontier Airlines operate flights to 10 cities in the U.S., including: Los Angeles, Palm Springs, Las Vegas, Honolulu, and Phoenix. Note: flight locations may change, so check with your airline for updated flights out of Paine Field.

With just two gates, a single ticketing area, one lounge, and one baggage claim, the airport is designed to be small and easy to navigate. That makes it easier to get around and much more stress-free compared to a large airport.

Taking transit to the airport

It’s easy to take the bus to Paine Field:

  • Swift Green Line drops you off at 100th St & Airport Rd, about a 0.4-mile (8-minute) walk to the terminal, every 10 minutes weekdays and every 15-20 minutes on evenings and weekends. Just be prepared for the weather—it’s an outdoor walk!
  • Everett Transit Route 8 stops near the terminal entrance. This route is less frequent than Swift Green Line. You can transfer from Community Transit to Everett Transit at Seaway Transit Center.

Use Community Transit’s Plan My Trip tool to find the best route for you. With Plan My Trip, you can set your trip plan by the time you want to arrive at your destination.  Just set that time for when you want to be at the airport, and the tool will tell you which bus trips will get you there by that time.

Three tips for taking transit to the airport

  1. Give yourself time. Like with any flight plan, you will want to give yourself plenty of time to get to your plane. Remember that holiday weekends could cause traffic or bus service disruptions.

  2. Be mindful of your luggage. Just like on a plane, luggage cannot be placed on a bus seat during your ride. So keep it in front of you as best as possible, and be mindful of your fellow bus riders walking through the aisle.

  3. Use an ORCA card. For easier transfers between buses, pay with your ORCA card. If you’re not using an ORCA card, bring exact change so make your trip smoother. Learn more about fares.
