When was the last time you went to the library? Take this as your sign to go back! With a Sno-Isle Library card, (free for residents in Snohomish and Island County) you can borrow books, movies, music, audiobooks, and participate in community events — without spending a dime. Both the bus and the library help to make learning available to everyone, no matter who you are or where you live.
With locations across our community, your next visit may be closer than you think. And when you ride Community Transit, you’ll save on gas with an easy, affordable trip to everything the library has to offer.
More than borrowing books
The library is so much more than a place to check out books. You can borrow movies and music, find a quiet spot to study, hop on a computer to get work done, or bring your kids to a Storytime — and that’s just the beginning. Sno-Isle Libraries also offer many community events like drawing classes, board game groups, crafting gatherings, dance classes, and employment workshops to name a few!

Librarians take transit too
Taking the bus to the library is not just for visitors, librarians take transit too! Katherine “Kat” Combs, a children’s librarian at the Edmonds branch of Sno-Isle Libraries takes the ferry from Kingston to commute to work each day. “It is a lot easier to walk on the ferry,” Kat said.
“I don’t have a car on the Edmonds side, so taking the bus to work was out of necessity at first — but I actually prefer it now. It’s safer, less stressful, and better for the environment,” Kat said.
Kat has used transit to go to events for the library, too. “I used to think taking transit would be too difficult when carrying materials for outreach event, like event kits or laptops,” she says. “But I learned to pack smarter. It saves money and lets me get to events like multicultural nights and PTA meetings without the stress of parking.”
Plan your trip to the library
There are 21 libraries in Community Transit’s service area, so you can pick the location easiest for you.
In the words of Arthur the aardvark, “Having fun isn’t hard when you’ve got a library card!”
