The maps above show the 2-lane closure on Northbound I-5 that will take place the weekend of Jan. 10-11, 2026
Revive I-5 construction will shut down the northbound lanes of I-5 in Seattle starting tonight.
Northbound I-5 in Seattle will be closed near I-90 to Northeast 45th Street from 11:59 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, to 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12. The express lanes will remain open northbound-only 24 hours a day.
When northbound I-5 reopens at 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, a two-lane reduction will be in place across the Ship Canal Bridge until early June. Express lanes will continue to run northbound-only 24 hours a day.
When similar work took place last summer, the morning southbound I-5 commute from Snohomish County was delayed up to an hour. Expect similar congestion with this project, especially in the first few weeks, as people adjust their travel patterns.
Visit the Travel to Seattle page on the Community Transit website for information on how to connect to Sound Transit’s Link light rail 1 Line to get you to Seattle faster than driving on I-5. Community Transit operates 19 CT bus routes and five ST bus routes that connect to light rail stations at Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, and Shoreline.
Note that downtown light rail stations will be closed overnight this weekend until noon the following day. Shuttle buses will be available to bridge the connection.

Revive I-5 will pause work for FIFA World Cup matches in Seattle in June. After the final World Cup game in Seattle, Revive I-5 closures will return until the end of 2026.
