There’s a bevvy of coffee shops around Snohomish County, so we decided to create a list of some spots for a cup that you can reach via transit… with some help.
We asked Community Transit’s Field Marketing Strategist and former barista, Ryan Bisson, to help create this list. When Ryan isn’t helping people learn how to ride the bus, he’s trying out new coffee from around the world.
Here are some of our picks around Snohomish County:
Moe’s Darrington | Mountain Loop Hwy & Seeman St | Route 230
Moe’s Coffee is worth the trip alone, but the mountain views when you get out to Darrington takes it over the top. Try their iced vanilla latte and don’t sleep on their homemade sandwiches.
Bespoke Café | Seeman St & Fullerton Ave | Route 230 + Zip Shuttle
Get ready for your mountain biking trip by stopping at Bespoke Café. Grab a delicious cappuccino and tune your bike up before hitting the trails.
Moe’s on Olympic | N Olympic Ave & E 5th St | Routes 220, 230 + Zip Shuttle
Similar to Moe’s in Darrington, but my go to order here is an eight ounce latte with an extra shot. They always get the temperature just right and the extra shot keeps your day moving!
Bonaventure Coffee Roasters
N Olympic Ave & E 5th St | Routes 220, 230 + Zip Shuttle
This is on the “Try It!” list. I usually go for an espresso and cappuccino, but that cold brew with a splash of cream is calling my name!
Biscuit & Bean | Main St & 18th St NE | Route 280
Do yourself a favor and snag a breakfast sandwich and a spicy chai latte. If chai isn’t your thing, they serve Fulcrum Coffee, so an espresso is a great choice, too.
Legacy Coffee | Bickford Ave & 62nd Pl SE | Routes 109, 271
I recommend the Cortado (espresso & milk) and ricotta toast. Legacy is a great place to sit, relax, and enjoy a book with your coffee.
Vista Clara Coffee* | Bickford Ave & 19th Pl | Routes 109, 271
A roaster in your backyard, with plenty of single origin and blend options. I often lean to coffees from Africa, so I think I’ll be giving their Kenya a try soon.
Proper Joe | Second St & Ave C | Route 271
A cozy spot in historic downtown Snohomish, Proper Joe's roasts its own beans and features handmade syrups. Try their vanilla latte.
Pro Tip: Be sure to keep a lid on your drink and try not to spill while on the bus!
Monroe Coffee Co. | W Main St & N Kelsey St | Route 271
When I visited Monroe for a rider education day, I was able to stop by Monroe Coffee Co. Their team was friendly, the vanilla latte was delicious, and it’s super easy to find. Next time you’re in town, take some time to enjoy Monroe Coffee Co.
The Creamery Co. | State Ave & Grove St | Routes 201, 202, 222
Why do I feel like I don’t even need to tell you about this stellar spot? I’ll take 55 cinnamon rolls, 55 Danishes, 55 cupcakes, and an iced coffee, please and thank you! I’m not much of a pastry person, but I’ll snag multiples here
Spoon & Straw | State Ave & 2nd St | Routes 201, 202
IN-CRE-DI-BLE! Are you kidding me? This is a recent find for me and my family, and to say we dig it is an understatement. Order the Pitaya and keep the sweet drinks coming with a caramel macchiato or mango smoothie.
Red Twig Café and Bakery & Café Louvre | Dayton St & 5th Ave S | Routes 102, 130
When you’re in Edmonds, you don’t just visit one café – just visit them all and enjoy! Red Twig Café & Bakery is a staple, and on a chilly day is the perfect spot to snag a latte and tomato bisque.
Urban City Coffee Co. | 44th Ave W & 212th St SW | Route 112
Urban City Coffee is a staple and when you’re waiting for your bus on a cold morning their warm, cozy space and a hot mocha will make everything better. Of course you’ll need to snag a quick pastry, too, I’ll always suggest a muffin to pair with a mocha.
Milk House Coffee Co. | 40th St NB Station | Swift Blue Line
Milk House Coffee’s house-made pastries will blow you away, pair it with one of the best brewed coffees and you have an incredible way to start your day. Seriously, their brewed coffee (roasted by Everett’s Velton’s Coffee Roasting Co.) is dialed in
Narrative Coffee
Colby Ave NB Station & Wetmore Ave SB Station | Swift Blue Line
Order a “wild” espresso and a six ounce espresso and milk. You’ll thank me later. Pair it with some French toast and some thick cut bacon and your world will be changed.
Craken Coffee Roasters
4th Ave W SB & NB Station | Swift Green Line
Craken not only has delicious specialty drinks, but they roast their own beans, too. Don't skip the pastries! The matcha croissant and Dalgona Honeycomb Latte in the photo for this list is from Craken.
Visible Coffee Roasters & Bequest Coffee Co. | 153rd St SE SB & NB Stations | Swift Orange & Green Lines
Both spots offer a different atmosphere and drink styles in general. Bequest offers warm lighting, small tabletops for close conversations, and traditional drinks with a more developed roast style.
Visible offers a lot of natural light (due to it’s corner, exposed location), large tables and communal seating, and traditional drinks with a medium roast profile. You can easily snag a delicious pastry and drip coffee from both spots.
Kaffeehaus de Châtillon | Ash Way Park & Ride (Multiple Routes)
This is a not a rush in, rush out spot. Take your time, ask questions, and enjoy the carefully prepared drinks. As a traditional espresso and drink enthusiast, I’d tell you to try the Grober Schwarzer Mokka (espresso) or the Milchkaffee (milk & espresso) but if you need a little extra sweetness explore the Kaffeespezialitaten (specialty coffees) menu.
