Extra trains running on Link light rail between Lynnwood and Seattle’s International District
Sound Transit has begun running extra light rail trains between Lynnwood and Seattle through the end of March.
As part of the preparation for opening of the 2 Line across Lake Washington, these extra Link light rail trains are running to simulate the level of service that will be in effect starting March 28. Riders get to benefit from this testing by having a train run every four minutes in weekday peak periods and every five minutes throughout the day.
Eventually, the 2 Line will take travelers between Lynnwood to Redmond. For now, the extra trains to Seattle mean more frequent service and even more ways to get from Snohomish County into Seattle.
While the 2 Line train service now ends in the International District, riders can still travel further south to SeaTac Airport or Federal Way by taking the 1 Line. If you get on a 2 Line train and want to travel further south, just transfer to a 1 Line train at any station the 2 Line stops between Lynnwood and the International District. With more frequent trains, parking lots at light rail stations may fill up even earlier. Avoid the hassle by taking a bus to light rail. Community Transit runs 19 bus routes from throughout Snohomish County to light rail stations in Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, and north Shoreline.
