Starting March 28, you can take light rail to Bellevue and Redmond

a Link light rail 2 Line train travels across Lake Washington

The much-anticipated Sound Transit Link 2 Line Crosslake Connection will start service across Lake Washington on Saturday, March 28, providing a one-seat ride from Lynnwood to Redmond. The first 2 Line train leaving Lynnwood to Redmond will depart at approximately 11 a.m.

Together, the Link 1 Line and 2 Line will offer light rail service every four minutes during peak hours from Snohomish County stations in Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace.

Which train to take

  • If you are traveling between Snohomish County and downtown Seattle, you can take either train.
  • If you are going to south Seattle, SeaTac, or Federal Way, you will need to take a 1 Line train.
  • If you are going to the Eastside – Mercer Island, Bellevue, Redmond – you will need to take a 2 Line train.

Both light rail lines serve common stations between Lynnwood and the International District, then they split off. Be sure you are on the right train to get you where you need to go.

Connect to light rail by bus

With the Crosslake Connection there will be more people riding light rail. Parking at stations fills up fast; typically, Lynnwood City Center parking is full by 7 a.m. on weekdays.

You can take a Community Transit or Sound Transit bus to the Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, or Shoreline North/185th Street stations. There are 19 bus routes connecting communities within Snohomish County to light rail.

If there is not a bus near your home, you can drive to a nearby park & ride lot to catch a bus connecting to light rail.
