Community Transit Wins Safety Award for Eighth Year
Washington State Transit Insurance Pool honors Community Transit with its highest safety award

Community Transit earned its eighth Safety Star award from the Washington State Transit Insurance Pool, recognizing the agency's outstanding safety record and commitment to protecting riders, employees, and the communities we serve.
Community Transit has been named the “best of the best” among Washington state’s large transit companies, securing its eighth Safety Star award from the Washington State Transit Insurance Pool (WSTIP). WSTIP Executive Director Matthew Branson presented the award on June 4 during Community Transit’s monthly board of directors meeting.
The annual Safety Star award recognizes member agencies that maintain outstanding and stable safety records from 2020 to 2024. While Community Transit accounted for 14.4% of all miles driven across the entire WSTIP pool, it accounted for 7.18% of the insurance pool’s total auto losses, making it the safest agency in its category in the state.
In addition to a glass trophy, Community Transit received $5,000 to use for employee recognition of the achievement.
“The employees’ dedication to consistent safety practices has made Community Transit 2025’s best of the best,” said Branson. “A heartfelt thank you to your drivers, trainers, mechanics, road supervisors, and the work that you do as leaders in your organization for making vehicle accident avoidance an important part of the mission.”
Community Transit previously won WSTIP’s highest safety award in 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.
