The Swift Green Line Extension project is picking up steam, as Community Transit works with regional partners to expand its fast, frequent service in Bothell. Here’s a look at what’s new and what riders can expect next.  

What's the Swift Green Line Extension?

Community Transit is expanding its Swift bus rapid transit (BRT) network by extending the Swift Green Line. The extension will add up to nine more station pairs between Canyon Park, downtown Bothell, the UW Bothell/Cascadia College area, and east of I-405. 

The project timeline aligns with the City of Bothell's Bothell Way NE Multimodal Project and Sound Transit’s Stride S3 Line. Service on the Swift Green Line Extension is anticipated to begin as early as 2030. 

Shared Swift and Stride stations

A segment of the Swift Green Line Extension in Bothell will include three station pairs that will be shared with Sound Transit’s Stride Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) S3 Line. These stations will be owned and constructed by Sound Transit, helping riders transfer between services and travel throughout the area more easily. 

Among the planned shared Stride stations is a new location, following the most recent public feedback: 

• NE 185th Street and 104th Avenue NE 
• Beardslee Boulevard at UW Bothell/Cascadia College 
• New: Beardslee Boulevard and NE 195th Street
  

New station under consideration

As part of project planning, potential station pairs were evaluated along the route. Since the last update, potential future stops were added at 120th Avenue NE and NE 191st Street to serve the growing area. See the full list on Community Transit's online open house. 

The additional station pair is not planned to open with the rest of the Swift Green Line Extension. However, it may be added in the future after the extension begins operating. Planning for potential future stations during the design process helps reduce future design and engineering costs and provides flexibility to build additional stations as development in the area grows. 

Swift Green Line is planned to end at the North Creek Transit Center

The Swift Green Line Extension is planned to end in Bothell at the future North Creek Transit Center. This facility is a separate Community Transit project that will serve as a transit hub supporting both local bus service and the Swift Green Line Extension. 

The transit center will provide the space and facilities needed to support reliable Community Transit service while accommodating future transit growth in the Bothell and North Creek area.  

The North Creek Transit Center is a standalone project that will support Community Transit's local and regional transit network and is expected to open in 2029.
