Focus is on two teen women holding a mobile phone, watching a Community Transit TikTok post.

People get information in many ways. To reach everyone we serve (and hope to serve), we need to go where they are.

This week, Community Transit joined TikTok. It gives us another way to share helpful information, increase awareness of our services and career opportunities, answer common transit questions, and show you the people who keep Snohomish County moving.

We also plan to have some fun with it.

Sometimes it’s easier to show than tell

Transit can come with questions.

How do you put your bike on the front of a bus? What happens when you tap your ORCA card? Where can you go on Swift? What does it take to keep a bus running every day?

Short videos can help make those answers easier to understand. Entertaining videos can keep people interested and coming back for more.

TikTok helps us reach people who might not already follow Community Transit on other social media channels. Maybe they’re trying transit for the first time, haven’t taken a bus in years, or just want to see a video of a big bus going through the bus wash.

Different ways to follow Community Transit

TikTok is our newest social media channel, but we already connect with riders and communities in several other places.

  • On Facebook, you’ll find news about our agency and services, community events, rider information, project updates, and conversations about what’s happening at Community Transit.
  • Instagram is all about visual storytelling. We share photos, Reels, and Stories with rider tips, destinations, events, employees, and everyday moments from our transit system.
  • LinkedIn gives you a look behind the scenes at our organization. Follow us for employee stories, career opportunities, major projects, partnerships, and news about Community Transit’s work in the region.
  • YouTube is where we post our longer videos, like That Transit Show, The Transit Effect with Ken Jennings, how-to guides, and stories that let us dive deeper into the people, projects, and services at Community Transit. We also livestream our monthly Board of Directors’ meetings.

For route-specific Rider Alerts and important service updates, riders should still sign up for email or text alerts. Social media adds to those tools but doesn’t replace them.

See you in the feed!

Follow Community Transit on TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube, and tell us what you’d like to see.
