On New Year's Eve, free rides for all

On Dec. 31 all Community Transit buses are on a Saturday schedule

Community Transit, Everett Transit, King County Metro, and Sound Transit are offering free fare for all transit riders on New Year’s Eve.

All buses operated by Community Transit will be on a Saturday schedule and riders can travel for free on Dec. 31 starting at 4:30 a.m. through the end of the service day.

If you decide to use transit on New Year’s Eve, it is very important to check the schedules before you go because depending on your location, the bus route you will take on the way back may or may not run late enough. So, you may need to make alternative plans for a ride home.

Local bus service will run until 9 or 10 p.m., depending on the route.

If you plan to spend an evening in Seattle, or attend the downtown fireworks show, the last trip on Sound Transit Route 512 leaves Northgate Station at 12:48 a.m. on Sunday, January 1.

Swift bus rapid transit service will operate through 11 p.m.

Free rides also apply to the on-demand service Zip Alderwood Shuttle.

To plan your trip accordingly, check schedules at communitytransit.org/schedules.

Happy New Year, travel safely, and thanks for riding with us!
