Agency is expanding bus service and hiring 250 new employees

Snohomish County, Wash. – On Saturday, June 24, Community Transit sponsors the 3rd annual Snohomish County Bike Bash all-day event at Willis Tucker Park in Snohomish.

Community Transit will be at a number of community events this summer to spread the word about expanding bus service and new employment opportunities. Visit www.communitytransit.org/events to see all events.

In its latest draft six-year plan, Community Transit outlines its goals of increasing service 38 percent and hiring 250 new employees, mostly bus drivers and mechanics, by 2022. The agency will have staff at more than a dozen community events this summer to talk about new bus service scheduled to start this September and help people apply for the many new job opportunities. Snohomish County Bike Bash

Pedal on over and join Community Transit for a day of fun, family-friendly bicycle activities at the 3rd annual Snohomish County Bike Bash. The event is Saturday, June 24, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Willis Tucker Park, 6705 Puget Park Drive, in Snohomish. Oxy Gene will be there along with a Swift bus on display.

Whether you are a road warrior, a weekend recreational cyclist or someone simply interested in learning more about biking, the Bike Bash has activities for everyone, including:

• Bike rodeo featuring bicycle safety & skills activities
• $10 discounted bike helmets and fittings from Fire District 7
• Community Transit Swift bus and onboard bike rack demo
• Snohomish County Parks & Recreation information booth
• Live music provided by BridgeCity Church
• Bicycle Blender with healthy smoothie samples
• Guided bike ride on the park perimeter
• Laser Tag provided by Laser Tag Live
• Local bike shops and community bicycle organizations
• Food and drinks

• Oxy Gene and a Double Tall bus will be at Willis Tucker Park in Snohomish at 7:30 p.m. before the outdoor showing of Moana.

Community Transit is responsible for providing bus and paratransit service, vanpool and alternative commute options in Snohomish County. The agency is building a network of Swift bus rapid transit lines with Swift Blue Line along Highway 99 and the Swift Green Line between Canyon Park/Bothell and Boeing/Paine Field coming in 2019.
